Data Slices

Using data slices, you can evaluate a subset of a catalog item based on selected criteria rather than process the entire item with every job: this is optimal both from computational and cost perspectives.

Using data slices you can:

  • Slice a large volume of data by a selected attribute and run monitoring only on this relevant subset of data.

  • Easily define what the subset will be based on, for example, based on an attribute containing date information, or defined by country. This can be dynamic (that is, always based on the previous day or month) or ad hoc (based on a specific range).

  • See results based on the data subset, including historical results.

Data Protection Classification

We have introduced a new user acces control mechanism in ONE: data protection classification. This lets you manage access to sensitive and restricted data in the following ways:

  • Hide data in attributes containing sensitive information by applying data classification tags to terms.

  • Manage access to protected data for specific groups and users by editing their access level for data classification tags.

  • Define the visibility of profile and DQ insights for protected attributes.

Database Output Step Added to Data Transformations

Using the Database output step you can write transformation plan outputs directly to the Data Catalog, either overwriting the catalog item data, appending new data, or creating a new catalog item.

HashiCorp Vault Option Added to Secret Management Service

We added support for HashiCorp Vault to the Secret Management Service feature.

Create integrations between ONE and a HashiCorp Vault to provide access to your central storage locations and retrieve secrets from them when connecting to a data source. This allows for more secure storage and management of application secrets and keys.

DPE Labels Added to Connection Configuration

Using DPE labels, you can assign the processing of a data source to a particular Data Processing Engine (DPE). When creating the data source connection in ONE, use the Dpe label field to define which DPEs the data source should use. This is particularly helpful, for example, when running DPE in hybrid mode as it prevents assigning jobs to a DPE that doesn’t have the required network access.

Enhancements to Generative AI in ONE

In addition to catalog item descriptions, you can now use AI to generate descriptions for the following assets:

  • Attributes

  • Rules

  • Business terms

You can also leverage Gen AI to help you debug rules by generating example inputs.

UX Improvements

To make working with ONE even easier, we have introduced the following:

  • Mute pop-up notifications about the progress of all jobs for all users. See Processing Center.

  • We improved how occurrence statistics are displayed, making the Occurrence tab load significantly faster.

Compare and Merge Records with ONE Data

The feature is generally available from version 15.3.0-patch1.

Compare and merge records manually with ONE Data to easily resolve duplicates and maintain the quality of your data. To begin the comparison, select at least two records in a ONE Data table, and then select Compare or merge.

Data Stories

Customized Metric Formatting for KPI and Gauge Charts

In KPI and Gauge charts, you can now apply unique formatting options to each metric independently. This gives you more flexibility and precision in how data is presented as, previously, formatting adjustments could only be applied to the entire metric group.

Chart Title and Description Alignment

We introduced new options for configuring how chart titles and descriptions are aligned: Center (default), Left, and Right.

Sparkline Donut Chart Improvements

Sparkline donut charts now come with additional customization options. You can display or hide the legend, configure the legend position, and set the label position (inside or outside the donut).

Filter Improvements

Preselected filter values are now saved and stored on reload or when adding them to a dashboard. This applies to both single and multi-select filters.

Previously, the selected values in multi-select filters were not saved.

Data Protection Classification in Data Stories

Hide data in select attributes in Data Stories using data protection classification tags. To learn more, see Data Protection Classification in Data Stories.

ONE Desktop

Unique Encryption Keys

We introduced unique encryption keys you can generate for each instance of your Ataccama Cloud environment to enhance security when working with ONE Desktop and self-managed Data Processing Engine (DPE).

This provides additional protection against unauthorized access to your data and environment in Ataccama Cloud, makes sure data is encrypted, and secures communication between ONE and edge components.

MDM

Tasks Improvements

You can now add a clickable link field to the task description section in the task detail in MDM Web App to provide additional relevant information about the task. The functionality is enabled in the application.properties file (see MDM Server Application Properties, section Task Configuration).

You also have the option to define one or more actions that will be automatically executed after the specified transition in the task workflow. To learn more about post actions, see mdm:web-application-configuration:configuring-workflows-and-permissions.adoc.

Workflows, Tasks, and Permissions Configuration Improvements

We introduced additional validations during workflows, tasks, and permissions configuration in ONE Desktop. We also improved the naming and tooltips on Workflows, Tasks, and Permissions tabs for clarity.

Additionally, task permissions configuration now provides more control over task modifications, which ensures that only authorized users can make changes.

Security Enhancements

MDM security was enhanced by replacing outdated components, simplifying authentication, and improving system robustness.

REST API Response Improvement

The master_id attribute is now included in the response from instance write endpoints. This functionality is configured in the application.properties file (see MDM Server Application Properties, section MDM Features).

Rate Limiter for REST Requests

We added a rate limiter that allows controlling the frequency of REST requests by setting rate limits based on URI and HTTP method. If the limits are exceeded, a 429 Too Many Requests HTTP response status code will be returned to prevent server overload. To learn more, see Rate Limiter.

Security Enhancements

RDM security was enhanced by replacing outdated components, simplifying authentication, and improving system robustness.

Observability Enhancements

RDM application logs are now more comprehensive and consolidated into a single file. In addition, we introduced RDM monitoring based on industry-standard collection and visualization tools, such as Elasticsearch and Grafana, to keep track of the application resources, external and internal services, and overall usage.

As a result, this contributes to application maintainability, particularly in case of performance issues, and is especially useful for Ataccama Cloud deployments.

OpenID Connect Authentication Supported in RDM Steps

When working with RDM steps in ONE Desktop, you can now use OpenID Connect to authenticate the RDM server connection. As a prerequisite, the necessary permissions need to be assigned to the relevant service account role used to connect to the RDM server.

REST API Improvements

When retrieving records using RDM REST API, you can now define business dates. This way, you can retrieve records that are currently valid or that were valid at a particular point in time (as defined in the business date columns for the table).

To do this, set the businessDate parameter in modeSetup to null or a specific period of time, respectively. If you need to retrieve all records, use ignoreBusinessDates instead. For details, see RDM REST API, section Get records with advanced filtering.

In addition, you can limit how many records are returned in each request by defining the default limit for each request and the maximum number of records that can be obtained in a single request. To learn more about these properties (ataccama.one.rdm.api.response.default-count and ataccama.one.rdm.api.response.max-count), see RDM Application Properties, section RDM properties.

Two additional fixes were introduced:

  • Records can now be filtered by a DATE datatype field as expected.

  • Boolean and numeric data is correctly represented in JSON datatypes (without quotes).

Changes to Publish Action in Create and Edit Dialog

The Publish action in Create and Edit dialog, which lets you publish changes immediately after creating or editing a record, is now hidden by default. To have it available for users with the required permissions, you need to configure it first. For details, see App Variables.

In addition, when configured:

  • Publish is only shown on entities that have no workflow defined.

  • It is displayed next to the Save option. Previously, to access Save, you first had to open the actions menu.

New Prometheus Metrics

We have introduced new Prometheus metrics to monitor various aspects of user activity, data volumes, data changes, and data models. These metrics ensure transparent monitoring and can be useful for debugging and understanding the RDM environment.

  • ONE-54823: Chart legends no longer overlap with chart labels, ensuring readability.

  • ONE-54433: Font style of Gauge chart titles is consistent with other charts.
