Hybrid Deployment

The following guides are intended to help you deploy Data Processing Engine (DPE) as the client-side component of the Ataccama Cloud offering. As such, it describes the connectivity, OS, and system requirements, as well as the installation procedure and any additional steps that need to be completed for hybrid setup.

To install hybrid DPE, refer to VM-Based Hybrid DPE Deployment Guide. In this setup, hybrid DPE instances are deployed on a virtual machine (VM) using Ansible, which is compatible with both Ataccama Cloud and Custom Ataccama Cloud (in earlier versions known as Ataccama Platform as a Service).

Alternatively, for Ataccama Cloud environments, Kubernetes-based self-managed DPE deployment is also available. To help you determine which option is the best suited for your organization, reach out to your Customer Success Manager.

Before you proceed with the deployment, we recommend first getting familiar with the Ataccama Cloud offering, as described in Ataccama Cloud.

Version compatibility with ONE

We highly recommend running the same product version of your hybrid DPE instances and the rest of your platform as well as upgrading to the latest version at your earliest convenience. This way, you continually benefit from the most up-to-date improvements and fixes for the given version across the platform.

Supported versions

Data Processing Manager (DPM) only accepts connections from DPEs running a supported version range. In version 16.3.0, the supported DPE versions are 15.4.0 through 16.3.0. To use a newer version of DPE, you must first upgrade the whole platform.

If a connection is attempted from a DPE with an unsupported version:

  • The connection is rejected.

  • The engine status is shown as DISCONNECTED in the DPM Admin Console with rejection reason. This reason is also shown as a warning in DPE logs.

Keep in mind that the communication between DPE and Data Processing Manager (DPM) is versioned. Older versions of DPE can only process jobs supported in that particular DPE version.

Upgrading to 16.3.0

For configuration updates, see DQ&C 16.3.0 Upgrade Notes.
