Common issues and suggestions for reference data management implementation.

Data import issues

Auto-detection gets file format wrong

Suggestion: Manually adjust encoding, separator, or header settings.

All columns imported as text

Suggestion: Use data transformations to convert types before final import.

Duplicate records in import

Suggestion: Add deduplication step in transformation before creating reference table.

Error: "Can’t export from this edge connection"

Suggestion: Ask your administrator to enable Allow edge export on the connection the data comes from. See Allow edge export.

Governance workflow issues

Users can’t find reference data in catalog

Suggestion: Ensure data is published and check the user’s permissions, including any granted via group membership.

Changes not appearing in validation rules

Suggestion: Check rule update strategy and rebuild rules if needed.

Approval workflow too slow

Suggestion: Consider bulk approval for trusted sources or adjust reviewer assignment.

Group member didn’t receive review email notification

Suggestion: Assign the review to that specific user instead of a group. Email notifications go to individual assignees; group assignments only deliver in-app notifications.

Performance and scale issues

Slow response with large reference tables

Suggestion: Consider filtering or breaking into smaller domain-specific tables.

Too many validation rule failures

Suggestion: Analyze failure patterns to identify missing reference data or incorrect source values.
