Metadata Management Module
Metadata Management Module (MMM) consists of two parts, a frontend component (or ONE Web Application) that provides the user interface for Ataccama ONE, and a backend application that ties all other modules together.
ONE Web Application
The frontend service, that is, ONE Web Application, provides a web interface through which users interact with Ataccama ONE. This covers everything from viewing assets to data processing, accessing different reports and analytics, and much more.
In other words, users working with ONE on a regular basis use this interface whenever they need to do anything inside the platform. If your instance of ONE includes ONE MDM Suite (Master Data Management or Reference Data Management), you can also access their dedicated web applications from ONE Web Application.
MMM backend service
This is the central component of the Ataccama ONE Platform that coordinates communication between the user interface (ONE Web Application) and all other parts of the Ataccama platform.
For example, when data profiling is initiated, MMM receives the parameters from ONE Web Application (MMM frontend), stores the profiling configuration in the database, and, unless it is a scheduled request, forwards the request details to DPM. DPM then creates a job based on this information and sends it to a suitable DPE.
Similarly, when users browse entities in ONE Web Application, it is MMM that retrieves the metadata from the database and transfers this to ONE Web Application to be displayed to users.
MMM database
The database that MMM uses is the core database for Ataccama ONE. This is where the metadata is located, including everything from glossary terms and term suggestions, data sources information that DPE collected, data processing job parameters and states.
If your instance of ONE includes ONE MDM Suite, note that MDM and RDM modules use their own databases as they can also be deployed without ONE. These two databases can, however, be set up on the same database server as the Ataccama ONE main database.
