ONE Data Deployment Limitations
The availability of ONE Data and some of its features depends on the type of Data Processing Engine (DPE) your environment uses.
Ataccama-managed cloud DPEs only
Environments running purely on Ataccama-managed cloud DPEs require no additional configuration. There are no limitations to ONE Data features.
In such environments ONE Data and all its features are enabled by default.
Self-managed DPEs only
Environments running purely on self-managed DPEs, both cloud and on-premise, do not support ONE Data.
The following prerequisites are required to run such environments:
-
ONE Data is turned off via available feature flags.
-
The ONE Data plugin (
dmm-datasource
) is turned off in the self-managed DPE configuration. DMM is a service that lets ONE Data store, update, delete, and access data.
Depending on your deployment type Ataccama Professional Services or your system administrator need to perform the technical setup. |
Disable ONE Data completely
The feature flags used to configure ONE Data availability should have the following values:
-
ONE Data
: Disabled. -
ONE Data Load
: Disabled. -
ONE Data Load limited to Reference data extraction
: Enabled.
The exact mechanism of changing these settings depends on your deployment type. For more information, see Limit or Turn Off ONE Data Capabilities.
To disable the dmm-datasource
plugin in your DPE, the plugin.dmm-datasource.enabled
property must be set to false
in the DPE application.properties
.
Modify the property in your Ansible or Helm configuration accordingly.
Combination of Ataccama-managed cloud DPEs and self-managed DPEs
It is possible to run ONE Data with a combination of Ataccama-managed cloud DPEs and self-managed DPEs.
However, ONE Data cannot load data from sources connected to any type of self-managed DPEs. Any attempt to load data from such sources results in an error.
Depending on your deployment type Ataccama Professional Services or your system administrator need to perform the technical setup. |
Disable loading data from external sources
We recommend turning off the option to load data from external sources into ONE Data.
The following prerequisites are required:
-
ONE Data is enabled with data loading disabled via available feature flags.
-
The DMM plugin is disabled in the self-managed DPE configuration.
The feature flags used to configure ONE Data availability should have the following values:
-
ONE Data
: Enabled. -
ONE Data Load
: Disabled. -
ONE Data Load limited to Reference data extraction
: Disabled.
The exact mechanism of configuring availability of ONE Data features depends on your deployment type. For more information, see Limit or Turn Off ONE Data Capabilities.
In this setup most ONE Data features are available with the exception of loading records to ONE Data from Data Catalog. The following capabilities remain unaffected:
-
Creating new ONE Data tables.
-
Importing ONE Data tables from a file.
-
Running DQ evaluation.
-
Running profiling.
-
Data remediation.
-
Exporting ONE Data tables to file.
Alternative options
If the recommended setup is too restrictive for your use case, consider the following alternatives:
-
Avoid using self-managed DPE for source connectivity and secure an alternative connection between ONE and data sources. For more information about this option, contact Ataccama Support.
