User and Asset Types

This article describes the user and asset types in Ataccama ONE, which determine your licensing tier.

Named and consumer users

There are two types of users in the platform:

Named users

Licensed users with the ability to perform all platform actions. The specific set of permissions depends on your organization’s configuration.

Consumer users

Users with restricted permissions to view and comment on existing assets. You can have unlimited consumer users.

Processed and cataloged assets

An asset is a data element or resource in the Ataccama platform, such as a table, view, file, report, and similar.

Assets are counted at the object level, regardless of their size or number of columns. For example, a table with 10 columns is one asset, just as a table with 1,000 columns is one asset.

Processed assets are analyzed in the form of profiling, data quality analysis, lineage extraction, classification, and more.

In addition to processed assets, you might also have a number of cataloged assets. These assets are imported into the platform for metadata management purposes but not further processed. For example, this could be a table that you don’t need to profile or a BI report that you want listed in your catalog for reference only.
